CALLS FOR ENTRY

– Founded in 1994, the not-for-profit organization CENTER, supports socially and environmentally engaged lens-based projects through education, public platforms, funding, and partnerships.

Each year our supporters make CENTER’s grants, awards and exhibitions possible. Through these programs, CENTER can fund breakthrough work, offer professional development assistance and give projects the increased exposure they deserve. Below are the details and submission guidelines for each entry.

$5K PROJECT DEVELOPMENT GRANT

Supporting a fine art, documentary, or photojournalistic project that is a work in progress.

Eligibility:
• GRANT REQUIREMENTS: The Grant and funds are provided to a work i progress only.
• ELIGIBLE: All of CENTER’s Call for Entry opportunities accept submissions from national and international photographers and lens-based artists. Work can have been made at any time and work that has been submitted previously may be re-submitted as we have new jurors each year. Work derived from all photographic processes is accepted, as well as mixed media that is photo-based. Only the Multimedia Award accepts video, multimedia files and/or still images for submission.
• NOT ELIGIBLE: If photographer is represented by a major international photographic agency. Applies to the Project Launch Grant, Project Development Grant and the me&EVE Grant ONLY.
• FUNDS: Provided grant funds may be used for most expenses related to the project. Review more details regarding grant funds on our FAQ page.
• CONTRACT: Grant recipients are required to sign a contract and must fulfill contractual obligations in order to receive the full funds. Submission to the Project Launch Grant, Project Development Grant and/or the me&EVE Grant indicates acceptance of these terms.

$2,500 PROJECT LAUNCH GRANT

Supporting a complete or nearly complete fine art, reportage, or documentary series to reach a wider audience. Open to New Mexico residents only.

• ELIGIBLE: All of CENTER’s Call for Entry opportunities accept submissions from national and international photographers and lens-based artists. Work can have been made at any time and work that has been submitted previously may be re-submitted as we have new jurors each year. Work derived from all photographic processes is accepted, as well as mixed media that is photo-based. Only the Multimedia Award accepts video, multimedia files and/or still images for submission.
• NOT ELIGIBLE: Submitters must be a New Mexico resident for at least 2 years or more to apply, includes photographers taking a temporary residence leave. If photographer is represented by a major international photographic agency. Applies to the Project Launch Grant, Project Development Grant and the me&EVE Grant ONLY.

EXCELLENCE IN MULTIMEDIA STORYTELLING

Recognizing a project that utilizes photography, video, installation, or other elements that expand on traditional methods of displaying and experiencing photography.

REVIEW SANTA FE – PORTFOLIO REVIEWS

An opportunity for photographers and lens-based artists looking to connect with other professionals to showcase their work and to advance their careers through the juried portfolio review process.

Event Dates:
October 15-17, 2021
Full or Half Scholarships Available

Eligibility:
• ELIGIBLE: All of CENTER’s Call for Entries opportunities accept submissions from national and international photographers and lens-based artists. Work can have been made at any time and work that has been previously submitted may be re-submitted as we invite new jurors each year. Work derived from all photographic processes is accepted, as well as mixed media that is photo-based. Only the Multimedia Award accepts video, multimedia files, and/or still images for submission.
• EVENT: In order to attend the review event, you must receive an INVITATION from us directly. With this in mind, yes, there is a waitlist that is chosen by the selection committee. After invitation and participation confirmation, you will be provided with an event schedule that includes the scheduled portfolio reviews, a list of the available Photographer Presentations, Scholar Presentations, panel discussions, and other events throughout the weekend. Reviewer preferences are selected via a digital lottery system two weeks prior to the event in October. 
• SCHOLARSHIPS: Scholarship applications open after invitations have been sent out in June. If selected for financial assistance, the provided scholarships range in the amount of either half or full tuition. Please be prepared to pay either full or half tuition should you not receive a scholarship.
