CALLS FOR ENTRY

– Founded in 1994, the 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, CENTER has been advancing projects for 29 years. Through our grants, awards, exhibitions, and portfolio review programs, CENTER can provide direct funding to projects and offer professional development opportunities.

General Eligibility: All of CENTER’s Calls for Entry opportunities accept submissions from national and international photographers and lens-based artists. We accept submissions in the language that you feel most comfortable with. Work can have been made at any time, and work that has been previously submitted may be re-submitted as we invite new jurors each year. Work derived from all photographic processes is accepted, as well as mixed media that is photo-based. Only the Multimedia Award, Review Santa Fe, and Blue Earth Fiscal Sponsorship applications accept video, multimedia files, and/or still images for submission.

Provides financial support to a fine art, documentary, or photojournalistic work-in-progress.

    • FUNDS: Provided grant funds may be used for most expenses related to the project.

EXCELLENCE IN MULTIMEDIA STORYTELLING AWARD

Recognizes an outstanding storyteller using lens-based media to create narrative-driven projects. The award is open, but not limited to, photography, video, new media, photojournalism, installation, and web-based works.

Recognizing outstanding photographers working in all processes and subject matter in three categories: Personal, Social, and Environmental. A broad and inclusive interpretation of the themes is highly encouraged.

REVIEW SANTA FE PHOTO SYMPOSIUM

CENTER’s premier juried portfolio review event and conference for lens-based artists seeking audience expansion, critical discussion, and community connection. Scheduled to take place November 16-19, 2023, in historic downtown Santa Fe, New Mexico.

    • REVIEW PACKAGE: up to 9 portfolio reviews, inclusion in the Review Santa Fe Listing, participation in the Portfolio Walk*, access to Presentations, Panel Discussions, and other programs. | *Please note, the scheduled in-person programming is subject to change, and CENTER reserves the right to make the necessary changes based on the latest studies and updates regarding the COVID-19 virus and its variants to ensure the safety of its staff, participants, and public.
    • EVENT: You must receive an email invitation from us directly in order to attend the review event. With this in mind, there is a waitlist that is determined by the selection committee voting. After invitation, you will be provided with an event schedule that includes your schedule for portfolio reviews, and a list of the available programs throughout the weekend.
    • REVIEWER SELECTION: Reviewer preferences are selected via an electric lottery system two weeks prior to the event. Please note, occasionally there are additional portfolio reviews that become available during the weekend’s event, and are available for as first-come-first-serve during the review weekend.
    • SCHOLARSHIPS: Scholarship applications open after invitations have been sent out. If selected for financial assistance, the provided scholarships range in the amount of either half or full-tuition. Please be prepared to pay the remainder should you not receive a scholarship.

Honors a high school, college, or postgraduate teacher’s dedication and commitment to their students and field. Educators in all areas of photographic teaching are eligible including fine art, documentary, history, and criticism.
