Presented by Turchin Center for the Visual Arts Curator, Review Santa Fe Portfolio Reviewer, and CENTER Advisory Council Member Mary Anne Redding, the Preparing for Portfolio Reviews Project Lab Seminar offers advice on preparing your work for meetings with curators, editors, publishers, and other industry professionals. Portfolio Reviews offer opportunities for project distribution and making key contacts for career advancement for photographers working at all levels.

DAY 1: Redding will discuss the importance of tailoring their body of work to different types of opportunities, from gallery and museum exhibitions to print publications and books.
DAY 2: Provides participants with an invaluable group portfolio review session with Redding to refine their projects.


MARY ANNE REDDING is a visual arts curator and writer. She currently works as the Curator for the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. Redding has more than forty years’ experience working as a curator, archivist, librarian, educator, and arts administrator. She has curated hundreds of exhibitions as well as written and published numerous essays on contemporary art. Redding serves on the Advisory Council at CENTER and was the 2022 Excellence in Multimedia Storytelling Award Juror.


To participate in both days of the seminar you must add BOTH days listed below to your cart. Please note, there is a limited number of spaces available for only the second day, and may not be available to add depending on its current status.

Registration Fee Waivers are available on a case-by-case basis for those that cannot afford the registration fees for whatever reason. To apply, you must fill out the Fee Waiver Request Form before the Fee Waiver deadline of July 29, 2022.

You may cancel minus a $35 processing fee until July 29, 2022. Please be aware that there is a minimum number of registered participants needed in order to run the class. Should that minimum not be reached by August 5, we will cancel the class and refund your registration fees.
